Welcome to Markham Irish Canadian Rugby
Markham Irish Canadian Rugby Club provides competitive rugby programs for all age groups. Started in 1980, the club has continued to develop and expand the programs offered to it's members. We now offer four men’s teams as well as Grey Hares and Women’s rugby.

The junior program offers instructional and competitive teams from Under 12 to Under 20 and continues to flourish each year. The program has been so successful that players come from Toronto, Newmarket, Stouffville, Richmond Hill and other locations to play for Markham. Download the Junior Club Brochure.

Please come out and see us. New members are always welcome!

The U12 juniors continue to learn and progress
The coaching staff would like to thank all the parents for bringing their children out to the Oakville Crusaders tournament. We had a fantastic time. It's wonderful to have so many parents committed to the development of their children's future in this great sport!
In only 4 tournaments the children have grown beyond the goals and expectations of all the coaching staff.
We played Aurora in game one (a team I might add beat us handily in our first tournament). Our team did not allow even one try to be scored! In game two they faced the Oakville Arrows, who in the previous tournament in Oshawa had no tries scored against them, the Markham Irish U12's managed to score twice and showed tremendous goal line defensive presence. They fell to a 4-2 decision in favour of the Arrows but showed great game. Our last game was against the Beach who we tied.

For many of these boys and girls this is the first time they have played rugby and in a short 18 practices and 4 tournaments, they have showed excellent understanding and execution of the basics of rugby, even to the extent of performing Loops, crashes, and overlaps to create scoring opportunities.

   Well done U 12's!!
Congratulations to Megan and Tabitha !
Congratulations to Megan Gibbs and Tabitha Stavrou for being chosen to represent Canada at the 2010 Women's Rugby World Cup taking place in Surrey, England from August 16th to September 5th.  Gibbs will be participating in her second World Cup tournament while Stavrou will be attending her first world championship event.  Both become the first members of the Markham Irish Canadian Rugby Club to represent the club at the highest level.  The Markham Irish is honoured to have two of its members represent us on the world stage.
