| Markham Irish Canadian Rugby Club provides competitive rugby programs for all age groups. Started in 1980, the club has continued to develop and expand the programs offered to it's members. We now offer three (possibly 4) men’s teams as well as Grey Hares and Women’s rugby.
The junior program offers instructional and competitive teams from Under 12 to Under 20 and continues to flourish each year. The program has been so successful that players come from Toronto, Newmarket, Stouffville, Richmond Hill and other locations to play for Markham. Download the Junior Club Brochure.
Please come out and see us. New members are always welcome!

Message from the president
ANNOUNCEMENT - 29TH JANUARY 2010
I would personally like to thank everyone for taking time from their busy schedules, travelling in from school and from out of town to attend probably the most controversial and exciting meeting in Markham rugby history.
The meeting had a vibrant Q & A session and nothing was left on the table. All issues were addressed and everyone had a voice. No one can say we do not have a passionate rugby club as exchanges might have been heated but the tone remained civil.
The decision was left to the voting members, as it should be, and after the ballots were tallied, the Markham Rugby Club will be merging with the Irish Canadian Rugby Club to form a new entity, the Markham Irish Canadian Rugby Club.
Our new club will offer an exciting platform for all levels of rugby from the U12’s to the senior men. We believe all programs will be enhanced from the juniors to the women. We will offer up a more competitive rugby atmosphere while maintaining our great social heritage, forging new friendships along the way.
As the future of the club is with the juniors, this merger will have more funding available through sponsorship and fundraising, and providing support to our rep and national team players. We will be able to supply a direct pipeline from the U20’s and U18’s into the Marshall Division, the place where everyone wants to play. This core of players coming up from the Markham program will be the foundation of the club in coming years.
We will now be able to support the woman’s teams with a junior women’s U19 team and most likely, an U17 team.
Yes, the upcoming season will be full of challenges and change, but if the positive vibe from last night’s meeting was an indication of what this club wants to become and where we want to go, then we are already heading in the right direction. Let’s everyone, from the alumni to the executive, the player’s to the coaches, the parents to the fans, make this happen.
